ILP #1

I want to be an English Teacher, so for my project I used iMovie to teach my students about the rhetorical appeals of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos! I loved using iMovie.

1. I looked at a few class pages on St. Bridget School that were grade 5. I could see their class schedule, homework, and spelling lists. I could also see the different assignments they had to complete. It was very interactive and all the links worked. There were links to newsletters and the teachers gave a bit of information about themselves and their background. http://www.saintbridgetschool.info/my-sbs/teacher-pages/ 2. I learned about a lot of resources that I can use to help me professionally in the classroom today. In the future, I will be using Education World. This is a website that has lesson plans, templates, ideas for activities, and much more. It is a lot of fun to work with and very helpful. I will also be using excel to create schedules and calendars. I really loved another source my classmate found called RescueTime. It is a program that helps you manage your time and be productive! 3. I will preface this blog post by saying that I have an excused absence today and was not able to go to the tech sandbox. I have also never been to the tech sandbox before. I did some research on Web 2.0 technologies so this is what I am basing my blog post off of as well as the instructions in Lauren's email! 1. I think that Web 2.0 technologies such as social media on computers, phones, and laptops and blogs are the most useful in the classroom. They allow students to interact with each other and share different ideas. They also give a sense of belonging to some students who may feel isolated. This is why I think using twitter for our class is an important and interesting tool to use to communicate with others 7 days a week vs. 2 hours every week. I also think that facebook and instagram are good tools as well to help students with expressing themselves in a healthy outlet when used properly. I also think that blogs are very useful as they help students express their opinions a...

1. I have used twitter in the past for both personal life and college classes. I have always loved twitter and think it is a great resource that is available to the public. In this class, I have found twitter to be very useful and fun! I am now actively searching for new articles that provide me with new information to retweet and share with my classmates. I have interacted with other classmates' tweets as well. I love seeing what my peers have to say about topics we are discussing in class and other tools and resources they find. Twitter is so great when it comes to exchanging ideas. Twitter may be helpful in my future career because I want to be a member of a publishing company or a magazine company. PR is a huge part of that and twitter is a popular way to advertise and publicize! I could also use it for my students to share ideas like we do in this class! 2. The Digital Divide is such a dangerous thing. It really affects a student's ability to learn and prosper in school ...

1. I feel most comfortable teaching ELA standards W/WHST.8 “Use Multiple Sources” and RI.7 “Multimedia:” Informational Text. This is because I feel that my partner and I came across these standards multiple times during our practice worksheet. I also feel like I have worked with them many times  during my personal career as a student. I also feel that I am quite versed in all three of the producing ELA standards which include, W/WHST.2 “Write to explain/inform,” W/WHST.6 “Use Technology,” and SL.5 “Use Digital Media.” I have used all of these standards as a student in my years in school for many projects, papers, and assignments. I need to expand my knowledge and learn more about the ELA standards RI.5 “Text Structure:” Informational Text because I feel that I have not worked enough with this standard in class or in my school career. 2. I really loved doing the Newsletter assignment. I already knew a lot of the skills that we used to create this docu...
