1. I have used twitter in the past for both personal life and college classes. I have always loved twitter and think it is a great resource that is available to the public. In this class, I have found twitter to be very useful and fun! I am now actively searching for new articles that provide me with new information to retweet and share with my classmates. I have interacted with other classmates' tweets as well. I love seeing what my peers have to say about topics we are discussing in class and other tools and resources they find. Twitter is so great when it comes to exchanging ideas. Twitter may be helpful in my future career because I want to be a member of a publishing company or a magazine company. PR is a huge part of that and twitter is a popular way to advertise and publicize! I could also use it for my students to share ideas like we do in this class!
2. The Digital Divide is such a dangerous thing. It really affects a student's ability to learn and prosper in school and it causes those without reliable internet and technology to fall behind their peers. Some causes of the digital divide are that some families are in lower SES than others. Also, families in rural areas have less access to the necessary technological resources enabling students to learn. I may experience these students in my teaching and it will affect how I teach. I will find alternate ways for these students to access technology and still be able to learn with their other peers in the class.
3. I expect to use a lot of academic software when I am a teacher. I would love to teach high school students and they use a lot of technology to complete assignments and learn from their teachers. I expect to use edmodo because it is a way to organize assignments and publish announcements for my students. I will also use kahoot because I have found that it is an interesting, exciting, and interactive for students. Students get really passionate about kahoot and I want to keep them engaged and learning at the same time. I will also use powerpoint and prezi as I will be working with older students and they will be using this software to complete assignments as well. I will not be using Rosetta stone because I will not be teaching a language and I will not be using leapfrog as I will be working with older students.
