Blog Post 5

I will preface this blog post by saying that I have an excused absence today and was not able to go to the tech sandbox. I have also never been to the tech sandbox before. I did some research on Web 2.0 technologies so this is what I am basing my blog post off of as well as the instructions in Lauren's email!

1. I think that Web 2.0 technologies such as social media on computers, phones, and laptops and blogs are the most useful in the classroom. They allow students to interact with each other and share different ideas. They also give a sense of belonging to some students who may feel isolated. This is why I think using twitter for our class is an important and interesting tool to use to communicate with others 7 days a week vs. 2 hours every week. I also think that facebook and instagram are good tools as well to help students with expressing themselves in a healthy outlet when used properly. I also think that blogs are very useful as they help students express their opinions and ideas.

2. I don't know what tools we discussed in class as I was not there. In my classroom, I would use YouTube a lot. I would use it to show videos and clips that relate to the subject matter and topic at hand. I feel that visuals are very important when it comes to teaching and learning because you can see examples of what you are talking about with your students. I also think that YouTube is managed well and is user friendly. I also think it is a great way for students to upload projects to be seen by their classmates.

3. I think that advancing the technology of computers holds the biggest promise for education. You may be thinking that computers are boring, but with constant advancements they are the easiest and most convenient to use and learn how to operate on. Also, they will always be necessary for school papers and projects. I just think computers are a vital tool when it comes to communication and time management. Schools are moving along a lot faster with constantly updating technologies and advancements
