1. Technology is a new and innovative way to reach new people and expand on a person's knowledge. Teachers want to use technology in their classrooms to help students learn in new capacities. Technology makes life easier for students and it is something that is constantly improving in the world. Teachers want their students to be prepared for the outside world. Bringing technology into the classroom is the perfect way to accomplish that.
2. I believe that the ISTE standards are important for both students and teachers. The one standard that I find most meaningful is "Leader." I want to empower my students to be leaders and strive for greatness. I feel like the classroom is an important place to empower students. One that is out of my current skill set would probably be "Analyst." I need to learn how to adapt to different learning styles for students to help them excel. I need to understand how I can use technology to improve my students' learning.
3. I definitely agree with the label "digital native" for today's youth. I see so many young student and children who do not know what a VCR is or what life was like before the iPhone. Being a digital native means growing up with technology and not knowing what a world without technology is. I do not see any difference between myself and my teachers because my teachers are adapting to the world of technology and are using it more. I don't anticipate too many differences between me and my future students because I hope to be well versed in technology.
